A shadow covers up
The sun. I don't what it is.
Some unknown eyes rise up,
through their reflection I see me.

"This world will eat you up,
It will destroy you, little girl."

In the shadow I recall
The days we dreamed a better world.
Guitars played out of time.
Some rockstars hanging on our walls.

"Wait 'till you grow up and you'll see
How tough this world can be."

And I don't understand
How can this shadow run away
Each time I sit and play.

Although I'm grown up now
My dream has never slept away
And I still fight, each night and day.

Those unknown eyes still look
at me, while I look just inside.
The shadow's like a hook.
Sometimes your hope is hard to find.

"Wait 'till you grow old and you'll know
This world has been already sold."

I sit here by the sea
and waves lull all my hidden dreams.
Sometimes I wonder if
that shadow's there to protect me.

I know I'll never know
If I am right or wrong.

All that I understand
Is how this shadow runs away
Each time I sit and play.

Although I'm grown up now

Sometimes I'm still a little kid
Who fights for a chance to sing.
